Music

Music brings people great joy. It connects people to their emotions, imagination, creativity, and their spirit. Music can inspire, motivate, energize, or heal. When you are down, irritated, or in a bad mood, music can help distract you, forget about your problems, and uplift you. It can make you feel like you want to work out, or dance, which can also do wonders for your emotional state. Music is amazing, and has great power!

I have been extremely blessed to have grown up in an era where great music has become increasingly more available and easy to access, and share. Things like Spotify, Pandora, and Youtube have connected me to hundreds of great songs that I never would have found otherwise. I consider the music that I have collected in the past decade among the greatest gifts that I have been given in this life. If you do not have Spotify, I highly recommend. It is a great way to share playlists and make all your favorite music transportable, as well as to find cool new music like any playlist or song you start a list with.

Here are two Spotify playlists of some of my favorite music. The first contains music I have found in the past decade, as well as some of my favorites from the 80’s. The second I have to say was very suitable to my first couple of experiences with medicinal mushrooms.

Below are a few youtube videos for songs I was unable to find on Spotify. The first song and video deserves special attention. The video shows dancing cartoon characters, in perfect synchrony with the music, as if the cartoons were made to fit the music. However, the cartoons are from the 1930’s, almost 100 years ago. The person who put it together somehow envisioned syncing footage from several of these cartoons to this music, which they do – amazingly! I absolutely love the dog dancing at 2:30 into the clip, as well as how the cartoon trumpets correspond with perfect timing to the sax/trumpet in the song. Phenomenal editing job and creative effort to say the least. And the fact that the cartoons match up in perfect rhythm with this song that came 6 decades or so after it is absolutely bizarre. It is as if the cartoons were waiting in the ether for this song to come along and give new life and appreciation to them. In the video description, the creator called it a “labor of love”. The cartoons were also, since they were drawn by hand tediously back in the day. Perhaps all the love that went into both the cartoons, editing, and the song itself is why it has such great energy.

In any case, I hope anybody coming to this page winds up being introduced to some new music that they enjoy, and that a few of these great songs become part of their collection and life!
